We love supporting fellow female founders and helping them feel empowered and confident in themselves and with their brand, because after all they are a massive part of what makes the business a success. We love celebrating women’s achievements and firmly believe in the phrase ‘empowered women, empower women’, because there is definitely room for all of us. International Women’s Day is celebrated on the 8th March and gets it’s roots firmly from fighting for equality, but is now seen as a day to celebrate the achievements of women, as well as educate, empower and reflect.
Last year in 2022 a record number of new companies in the UK were set up by women, more than 150,000 in fact which is twice the number of that in 2018. This really is amazing news, as it has been largely seen as a man’s game. I can’t tell you how many stories I’ve heard of women not been taken seriously or not being supported when they tell people about their business plans, to then end up bringing in most or all of their families income. We get to see the other side to ‘business’ the one that isn’t all suits and networking, and we love that! Where women are carving out a business from their passion, being flexible with their working hours, and care deeply about their brand, and most importantly grow their business around their family, for their family. Obviously sometimes all of these things aren’t possible, but that’s because running a business is hard (and nobody’s going to tell you that setting up and running a business isn’t). We want to celebrate all of the women that have ever set up a business, for their bravery, courage and passion, even if things didn’t go to plan, that’s okay because you made a difference to peoples lives in some way and that is something to be proud of.
Thanks, Tasha (and Faye) x
